July 30-Aug 1 Treynor to Dow City

I’m sure posts will start to get a little more spread out as I make my cross country journey.

July 30-31 were spent with my new buddy 2 year old Bennett playing with blocks setting up chicken coops, corrals and pastures each one looking a little different as we got more and more creative! Our animals always seemed to enjoy whatever we set up for them! And then with a quick sweep of Bennett’s hand the table would be cleared and we would start all over again. I was actually surprised as he could be engaged with this for hours, which was good as Monday morning we had some pretty good showers which confined us to the indoors! Enjoyed reading books, hunting and eating mulberries too!

Sunday evening Suzannah and Matthew brought supper (lasagna a personal favorite, fresh green beans with garlic and muskmelon). Anything Suzannah makes I have learned over the last year has incredible flavor! So fun to hear how wedding plans were coming along with less than a week to go before their wedding! Special shout to brother Paul for participating in Mission Impossible that he changed to Mission Possible by picking up some earrings accidentally left in Seattle, he picked them up in the designated location of a outdoor flower pot, then had them shipped 2 day air which will get them here 3 days before the wedding! Go Paul! And…thank you!

Loved spending several days with Aaron, Anna, Bennett and newborn Dawson, who at one week old today is wearing 3 month onesies!

Yet another adventure last night as I drove with Carol and Paul (who had come to meet their grandson Dawson) out to their farm about an hours drive north to Dow City, Iowa. The adventure part was just a few minutes into the drive (their car) as the battery light began flickering, and then stayed on solid as we drove home on gravel roads with dusk turning to pretty much darkness! All extra accessories were shut off, including the air conditioning and lights! We all gave a sigh of relief as we limped into the lane and drove onto the farm under power! Even with all that happening we were not too distracted to enjoy the Blue full moon coming up over the horizon.  Thank you Lord for your provisions and protection!

Today started with calls to get the alternator replaced, first call was for 2-3 weeks out, 2nd call was ‘we can do it this afternoon’! Again, “Thank you Lord!”

Enjoyed breakfast sitting out on the deck with the sight and sounds and sweet fellowship catching up! Lots of birds, the wind, and as the wind settled down…flies!
