Today was a day of driving AND connecting! Probably my worst day of driving! First, nearly 4 hour drive to Bonita Springs on the west coast of Florida just south of Ft Meyers to have lunch with Janet Schreiner. I know Janet from West Side and she is down here for 3 months. We have in common that we both drove cross country AND we have Jesus in common! Great to share a meal and catch up on each others lives! It takes meeting up in Florida to have lunch together!
Then what was supposed to be a 3 hour drive turned into 4 1/2 hours of driving in congested traffic from Bonita Springs to St Petersburg! Destination Julie Fromm Lieser (Joe) and sons Benjamin “almost 10 on Earth Day” and Owen is 7. Arrived at 7:30 had a wonderful evening and Saturday with the family! Saturday was a very busy day! First both boys had soccer games, each scoring 3 goals in their games…both games were going simultaneously so I felt like my head was on a pivot looking one direction and then the other on side by side fields! Then home to change clothes and head out to the annual school carnival complete with multiple bouncy houses, trampolines, climbing walls, crafts and traditional type carnival games. So much fun to see the boys try all the events! If I were one of the boys I would have been exhausted after soccer or for sure after the carnival but no they were on to a birthday party with more bouncy houses and games!!! Oh to be young and have an abundance of energy! The plan was to conquer and divide for the adults! So Julie and I took the boys to the school carnival, then home for an hour and Joe took the boys to a birthday party! While Joe had the boys Julie and I talked and talked some more! No shortage of words! And then we headed to the St Pete Pier (Will Lily who goes everywhere with Julie!) for more worded, walking and stopping for homemade ice cream at Kilwins! Oh so good! Once home we continued to use up more words, when the boys got home played Uno and Spot It before supper. Then watch some Planet Earth in which the boys finally crashed! What a delightful time with the Lieser family! So enjoyed reminiscing and catching up with Julie and getting to know Joe. Fell in love with the whole family especially two very energetic boys! What a delight!
