Covered a few miles today leaving Boise at 6:30am, arriving Dubois, Wyoming at 3pm. The scenery did not disappoint! Driving thru lush valleys, over 3 passes, saw the amazing Craters of the Moon and The Tetons. Thank you Sid Hoagland for you great suggestions on my driving route, followed it in detail EXCEPT coming out of Arco I somehow managed to take 33 thru Howe and Mud Lake! Always an adventure!
Enjoyed Craters of the Moon National Monument, the largest post ice-age basaltic lava field in the continental US. Got to use my Seniors National Park pass to go in and take a closer look.
First saw the Tetons when they were still a couple of hours away, they were definitely impressive.
A little disappointed I didn’t get to stop in Jackson Hole but that is NOT a place to come thru on a Saturday at 1pm in the middle of the summer! Bumper to bumper traffic and way too many people! Maybe catch it on the return trip.
Pretty mild on the drive between 75-80 degrees, and 75-80mph!
Tonight is my first overnight not staying with friends or family…in a one room cabin in Dubois. Very simple but meets my needs. Thankful it isn’t hot as my air conditioning is a floor fan and two open windows. It is actually supposed to drop into the high 40s tonight! You won’t hear me complaining! Spent some quiet time this afternoon outside in the shade on a wooden swing reading my retirement cards, at least I’ve started, will continue the process tonight and tomorrow. Thank you!
Hard to believe tomorrow it will be one week since I started this adventure! Thank you to those who are praying for me and those reading my blog.
Hi, Karol: Really enjoying your trip journal & photos -- loved seeing the Tetons again! It's especially inspiring to see all your connections with people and know the blessings you bring them. Onward!

Thanks Meg! It has been amazing! Can't wait to see what God has planned for the days ahead!
DeleteHi Karol! This is Maggie, and you should definitely stop by Jackson Hole on the way back. Also, if you are stopping in Montana on the way back, try a little town called Hungry Horse. I think you'll approve🐎😉
