Today got off to a rough start waking at 1am and wishing it was morning (grade for the bed D-!). At 4am I decided I might just as well get up and shower and hit the road for about 7 hours of driving from Dubois to Acadia in Wyoming. I was on the road by 4:30 so definitely enjoyed the sunrise and several hours of driving with the road mostly to myself. Very early on I saw the mountains and I spent most of 6 hours driving either over passes, or thru the mountains following the river. It is so hard to rate my driving days, though I do think I like today the most! Stopped many times to enjoy God’s creation, snap a few pictures and at the top of Powder Pass at elevation of 9,666 I took a short walk especially enjoying the wild mountain Lupin. But it was a ‘short’ walk with the mountain air at 58 degrees and strong wind! I needed to be wearing flannel lined jeans and my puffy jacket (ear muffs and mittens!) Was super fun though! Also enjoyed the view while driving over the Wind Pass and following along the Wind River. Arrived my destination about 1pm due to my early start to the day. Next couple of posts will be about my lodging graciously provided by new members to West Side and my new friends Jonathan and Lorraine Williams. More to come about that in my next two posts.
Oh yes, only one wrong turn today, actually think it was the right turn, just unplanned on a less traveled road for about 20 miles and the scenery was exquisite! Such a good idea to take scenic smaller roads! Score!
