Aug 6-7 Albert City

Brief stop on Sac City for some precious time with Auntie Mavis, it has been a long 2 years since I have seen her last. We never run out of words to share and I get to see her most recent quilt panels. During my visits over the next month we are going to stop at the nearby quilt shop to pick out a panel for her to do for me AND pick out one that I can learn from her and we can do together! Another first, another dream to come true on this trip!

After visiting for several hours I went out to the car to travel on to Albert City and my key fob didn’t work! I tried several times to no avail, almost started to panic I knew I had extra keys “in” the car thinking it was the battery but that wasn’t helpful! Then light bulb time! It exploded in my head! “Karol, use your key in the drivers door and turn it, you remember how to do that!!!!”  Success! However then the horn started going off! Decided to try starting it and that stopped the horn from blaring but then there was another information light on saying there were air pressure issues with tires, I pulled over got out and looked at all the tires, they all looked good! I got back in again and kept driving! Will be taking it into the mechanic on Tuesday morning here in AC to see if I can get all the “needs attention lights” to go off and key fob to work.

Arrived cousin Tom and Joni’s farm about 5:00 and shortly we sat down for homemade potato salad, smoked ribs, fresh corn, pickled cubes, and scotcheroos for dessert..all are summer Iowa favorites! T&J had Sara’s 4 kiddos for a couple nights and we enjoyed playing games, hanging out together.

Aug 7 Joni headed to a painting job, kiddos and I played games, Aubrey made me a pretty blue and yellow friendship bracelet! Very special!

Almost forgot! For breakfast fleskpankaka and maple syrup from the trees on the farm! It has probably been 20 years since the last time I had mom’s fleskpankaka (Swedish pork pancake). What a treat!
