March 15 - Queen Esther

Big event of the day is the Sight and Sound production of Queen Esther. I’ve talked to people that have seen it 3-4 times! It truly was all that it was talked up to be!

It takes nearly 4 years to develop a Sight and Sound production for the stage. From script and score to scenic design, meticulous attention is given to every detail. And it is said that Queen Esther is no exception. At over 11,000 square feet of construction, the opulent city of Susa is one of the largest set pieces ever built for a Sight and Sound show. Though the set is incredible the story is of one women’s quiet faith that shines brightest on the stage. Half the set was built in Branson, half in Lancaster. The half built in Branson was sent up to Lancaster where the show was preformed for 2 years, the the set was as taken apart, placed in many semis, shipped to Branson. I’m told it took 2 weeks of 20 hour days to reconstruct it. Over 900 costumes, live horses, goats, sheep, lamas, doves, parrot, dog, miniature ponies and I’m sure I’ve missed something! Next up for Branson, Daniel!
