Surprise side trip! After taking my car in for 60,000 check today I drove 3 hours north (Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa) to Treynor Iowa to squeeze a 36 hour visit to Anna and Aaron Grady’s! Two days ago when I left Branson I had no idea I would be coming to Iowa. Thanks to Abi Wissmann who alerted me to just how close I was going to be! My 60,000 mile service I was told this morning would take 4-5 hours! But had a huge surprise when I got a text 2 hours later that they put 2 mechanics on it was done! While it was being worked on I walked and walked and I walked to World Market, TJ Max, Burlington, Ross, Kohls, and I’m so tired right now don’t even remember the names of the other two stores. I had to walk 3 blocks to the shops…it was 21 degrees, 14 MPH winds which brought it down to 11 degrees! It was cold! I had no hat or gloves! Tried to find a warm hat but was unsuccessful. The return walk to the car dealership I was walking “into” the wind! Even colder!
What a delight to spend time with my buddy Bennett as we, no he, collected fresh eggs, we visited the pigs (Dorey and Pork Belly) and had the chickens following behind us on part of our walk. Bennett may only be 3 but he would follow Stella the lab wherever she went, where they went I went, just slower!
Am very aware of the Lord’s gracious protection these last months as I learned today of dear friends in a horrible accident earlier today…realizing how quickly in a flash our life can change!
Spending a little extra time with this chicken! So fun to walk the paths his dad has cut through the woods!
Yes, these chickens tolerate a lot! And they are loved a lot!
