The rains stopped so this morning I returned to Noccalula Falls to see how much more water was coming over from yesterday’s rains…definitely more water coming over! I don’t have time to hike any of their trails the other day…today I started at Black Creek Trail and “thought it was a “loop” trail. After 1.7 miles I came out to a road and thought I would walk the road back, very soon I came across a sheriff and fire rescue person, the perfect two people to ask! However I didn’t like the answer too much! Only way back was to rewalk the trail I had just taken! The road wasn’t an option as it was a winding road up a hill with no place to safely “walk”! So…even though I was already tired , it was time to suck it up and retrace my steps! Didn’t realize that 1 mile of the trail I had been walking “downhill” which meant in retracing I had 1 mile to walk UPHILL! I made it, total of over 13,000 steps today! But I was “sucking air” on the return trip! Beautiful weather, beautiful river, woods birds!
Next I needed to “sit” for awhile, I I backtracked and drove the last 15 miles I had driven when coming into town on Wednesday in the dark. I knew I had driven by several lakes but could see anything. Discovered lovely houses around a couple of very large lakes, a number of folks fishing just off the road on the shoreline as well as some from their boats. Beautiful large homes, some trailers and smaller homes as well. I was surprised by all the large homes, and sometimes acreage with a few horses!
On my return trip it was time for a late lunch, and I made a quick decision to try Little Bridge BBQ! I quickly learned they are best known for their BBQ turkey, so turkey sandwich it is! Then a choice of red or white BBQ sauce…never heard of white, asked for red with a bit of white on the side! Need to try everything! White sauce was a mayonnaise base and the combination of both was perfect! (Why was it called “little” bridge? Cuz as the original bridge over the river carrying traffic both ways, they then built a “big” bridge which has traffic heading south and little bridge is used for northbound traffic!)
Back at the hotel I worked on determining my next two stops overnight at Jonesboro Arkansas tomorrow and then 4 nights in Branson Missouri. Tomorrow’s drive after church will be 5-6 hours. Tomorrow I’ll be attending Meadowbrook Church, Gadsden.
That is uphill! Might not look like it but trust me it was!
Once back at the hotel and planning my trip for the next week I was entertained by energetic 10-12 years as they enjoyed hot chocolate and managed to find the spray whip cream, and ultimately EMPTY the can very quickly! They had just won their morning games that was putting them into semi finals tonight. Can’t wait to hear their report later tonight, I will absolutely hear them when they return! 😂
