Oct 4 Buffalo NY to Schroon Lake

Too many small roads with too many small tiny towns or villages connected did not make for good travel time this morning so…had to divert to tollways/freeways and drove I90 for an hour (almost turned west to return to Seattle! Not!)

So glad we took the extra time to drive Adirondack Mountains it was beautiful with vibrant colors! (OK I need some new descriptive words or just cut the preceding sentence into each day of blogging!)

Driving thru the mountains there were NO places for a pit stop! Finally came upon stop at a lake with trees in full Fall colors and would have stayed taking in the wonder except for the darn biting flies!

Those biting flies did provide some good entertainment in the car as Laurie worked at eliminating them one by one. She was tenacious! Not one survived!

We did not make advance reservation not knowing exactly where we would “land” for the night. Pulled over to Schroon Lake and what we thought was a gracious welcome by the owners coming out to greet us instead found out the were just heading across the road for super and live entertainment! They were glad to see us, had only one room left we took it and they immediately put out the No Vacancy sign! Once again of the Lord’s provision that included a locals recommendation for supper across the road!

Morning snack of my favorite Kris Kringle Almond before Sausage Egg McMuffin to begin a long day of driving!
Oct 4 and high of 85 degrees! Great day for a driving through the Adirondack Mountains!
Quick stop at a bar for a bathroom break as there was no where else to stop once we entered the mountains for the next 90 minutes! It was the few moments sitting at the picnic bench that was the highlight of the day!
We might have stayed longer except for the biting flies!
Still in the Adirondack Mountains and at 5:30 looking for a place to stay and finally came upon a motel! When we arrived it advertised VACANCY, we were greeted before even getting out of the car, moments later the sign changed to NO vacancy! Great unexpected blessing! And we only had to walk across stage street for live entertainment and delicious salads! Grateful hearts tonight!
